In other words, Moses told them that God had promised them—temporarily—the Holy Land, and he guaranteed them victory over the unbelievers who dwelled therein. He warned them against defeat, fear, and cowardice, and two courageous believing men sketched out for them the road guaranteeing victory: “enter the gate against them …and rely on God.”

But the Jews are faint-hearted dastards who do not dare enter any battle nor to carry out God’s command to jihad. At this point, their cowardice began to speak, and mumbled some sickly excuses. When push came to shove, there was no excuse left, so they began to angrily curse Moses and his instructions. How despicable the coward is! And how amenable to curses is his tongue. This points to a people of cowards. “We will never enter it until they leave it,” but when they leave it, then we will enter. Their cowardice requires that their enemies leave the land and hand it over to the Jews. Notice especially the sapient subtlety of relating the deed to (the Palestinian dwellers), that is, by expressing “yakhrujuu,” “they go out” in the active rather than in the passive voice [i.e., “yukhrajuu” = “they are forced out”]. Who wants to go out from his own land and country out of free choice without facing war, battle, and defeat before delivering them over to his enemies? What sensible person could think or imagine such a thing? Only one who is lily-livered, and whose faintness of heart demands such a naively stupid supposition. The dastardly Jews actually expected that! As for the present time, lo and behold the Arabs are the cowards—that is, those who take their cowardice from the Jews—they expect and assume the same thing, and they imagine that Palestine, or part of it—“the part called the West Bank”—when the Jews leave it, they will leave of their own accord and not by fighting and imposing defeat on them!!

Whenever things became burdensome for the Jews, they cursed most indecorously, saying, “O Moses, we will never enter it as long as they are in it.” Notice the emphasis connoted by their using “lan,” “will never” …and ever. “For if you (Moses) are telling the truth about (the land) God has promised us, and if you are serious about our entering it, then you and your Lord go and fight it out, for here we sit!”—that is “you two go and fight for us, and we will collect the reward and enter it.”

The remarkable part of this sentence points out the Jews’ cowardice in warfare: They do not want to fight, they do not fight well, yet despite this, they are eager to instigate wars and they are always at the ready to ignite the conflagration of armed conflict, but only among others. They scheme and plan out wars with their vile, satanic plotting, then they get other peoples to undertake them, and these other peoples pay the price. The Jews advance them sufficient funds for weapons, fighting men, blood, victims, and pain.
